You fear the winter?
Everyone does.
Like leaves ahead of the storm,
I tumble from the highest boughs;
Missing all the handholds
slipping, sliding to the ground
Understand this, child:
Of all I survey
your loves, your fears,
keep me under your sway.
Never have I seen the sky
all clouded, gray, but can I know?
How could I have been so conceited?
Thunder, now; it starts to snow
Everyone does.
Like leaves ahead of the storm,
I tumble from the highest boughs;
Missing all the handholds
slipping, sliding to the ground
Understand this, child:
Of all I survey
your loves, your fears,
keep me under your sway.
Never have I seen the sky
all clouded, gray, but can I know?
How could I have been so conceited?
Thunder, now; it starts to snow
Even leaves, so proud and strong
Tumble down, devoid of color
Once splendid,
Now drab and dolor
Tumble down, devoid of color
Once splendid,
Now drab and dolor
